Compare Las Vegas and St. George routes to Springdale

Las Vegas has the broadest nearby major-airport schedule and a drive of roughly three hours. St. George Regional is much closer with fewer flights. The lines show planning corridors rather than turn-by-turn road geometry; use live directions and current road conditions before driving.

Las Vegas is usually the simplest major-airport choice

Las Vegas has the broadest flight schedule among the nearby major airports and a drive of roughly three hours. St. George Regional is much closer but has fewer flights. Salt Lake City adds a much longer drive and usually fits a broader Utah road trip.

The town and park shuttles are separate

The Town of Springdale operates the Springdale Line to Zion Canyon Village at the pedestrian entrance. The National Park Service operates the Zion Canyon Line inside the park. During shuttle season, private vehicles cannot use Zion Canyon Scenic Drive.

Arrival basics

  • Use Las Vegas by default unless St. George clearly wins on your exact dates and flight times.
  • State Route 9 is the main approach through Springdale. Check road and weather conditions before crossing southern Utah after dark.
  • Check the current NPS shuttle schedule; service dates and final departures change during the year, and no park-shuttle ticket or reservation is required.
  • Park only in designated stalls. When park lots fill, use legal paid parking in Springdale and continue by town shuttle, bicycle, or on foot.
  • Carry water and snacks, download the route before leaving reliable service, and avoid starting an unfamiliar southern-Utah drive without enough fuel.
  • Vehicles above current NPS length, width, height, or weight limits cannot travel on the Zion–Mt. Carmel Highway between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance. Check the official large-vehicle page before bringing an RV, bus, trailer, or large van.
